I have to admit that I was a little nervous when I booked this hotel. My husband and I were trying to save a little cash while touring around Italy-which can be very expensive! However, this hotel exceeded my expectations! It is really close to the train station and within walking distance to all the sites. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. They even looked up the train schedule for us. The rooms were huge and bigger than expected, even bigger than most chain hotels here in the states. If you are going to Florence, don't hesitate to book your stay at the Old Florence Inn.

We stayed at the Old Florence Inn for 3 days. We came by train from Rome and couldn't have picked a better location, near the train station. Literally took 2 minutes to find. We found everyone very helpful at the Old Florence Inn. Our room was wonderful, we had a balcony and it was wonderful overlooking the cathedral and nearby Tuscan Hills. Our room was large and the bathroom typical of Europe. They had a metal shade that came down over the french doors to the balcony for safety at night or when you were out of your room. I definitely recommend a balcony room. The trays for breakfast were full of crackers, croissants, honey, instant cappuccino (as good as in cafe) nutella, coffee, tea. It was plentiful and better than our Rome breakfasts. Room was bright and clean and bed was comfortable. I
would suggest with a balcony room, earplugs. A bus stop is below and with the traffic and people, there is just too much noise. Also, it was warm when we were there, the air conditioning is non-adjustable and it will only cool to a certain temperature.
We were able to walk everywhere from this location. In front of the train station you can rent bikes for 1 euro an hour or 4.80 eur for 5 ours. We rented bikes and went all over Florence over the Arno and up to the park overlooking Florence and then back around to Boboli Gardens. It is a great way to see the city.
It is such a great price and location we would definitely stay there again.

We were very happy with our stay at the Old Florence B&B. The place is easy to miss, closer to the train station than I thought, but in a great location for catching busses and sightseeing tours through the city. We had a blacony room #1 and we loved sitting out on the balcony watching Florence go by. I highly recommend the double decker red sightseeing bus. They give you an audio tour and you can get on and off as many times as you like in a 24 hour period, which is great fun and gives you a good idea where everything is. Also just a block away is the great open air market which was great fun shopping. You can easily walk to the Academia and the Duomo group from here a little further but still a nice walk is the Ufizzi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. The room was old fashioned as we expected, but clean, sweet and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small for a big guy like my husband, but we managed fine. The breakfast is not hot but a collection of tasty small cookies and packaged pastry, but they have a hot water pot in the room so you can have coffee in bed when you wake up which is very nice and an espresso machine in the library for your anytime pick me up. The staff was very helpful and friendly, Florio was able to get us last minute tickets to the Academia which we were thrilled to get and they allowed us to store our bags there for our last day of exploring Florence. I would definitely recommend this place as a Charming and convenient alternative to the corporate hotel experience. travelling894

USA, Sep 2008 Old Florence Inn has an excellent location for easy access to the historic center of Florence. It is very close to San Lorenzo/Medici Chapel. Also very close to the train station. The proprietor was both friendly and helpful. It has an elevator, which is a huge help in getting luggage upstairs. Although there was some street noise (our room was on the street side of the inn), it was not enough to disturb sleep. Very good value for the location.

Excellent stay, Sitting out on the balcony watching the bustle of the city while enjoy a bottle of wine definitley added value, but being close to the transportion hub does make it rather noisy, the room we stayed in had an electric shutter though which blocked out most of the noise and light and made resting very convenient,so much so that if you if you didn't set your alarm you were likely to oversleep :-) Since we came in with the train from Rome the convenience of not having to walk to far from the central station with all one's baggage was most welcome, and given the size of Florence most of the sights were in walking distance from this location. The small lift (as with allot of european locations)we had to use to get to the rooms was a bit of an inconvenience. Furthermore I would personally like to thank Florio for his assistence in posting my cellphone back to me as I accidentally forgot it in my room.Which is not only indicative of the integrity of Florio but his staff as well, for which I can only say a heartfelt molto gratzie.

The stay was amazing - from the very first moment we walked in we where welcomed with a smile. The room was great, very spacious, even with a cot and was extremely clean. The fridge and kettle where a win. The hotel is extremely well positioned and was by far the best accomodation that we had encountered on our trip through Europe. We would definately recommend the old Florence in to everyone looking for accomodation in Florence.

Although conveniently located by train station if Florence is a base point for other travels through Italy and the Tuscany region; the location of the hotel was still a little "rough". Never encountered any problems though. The actual B&B and rooms were wonderfully cozy and Florio was wonderfully kind and helpful. The ensuite breakfast tray and coffee/tea maker was convenient. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Price was great and room was large compared to other European rooms. Lift is tiny, could not fit luggage and an individual at the same time, had to carry up stairs. But not bad, we lived! All part of the experience! Overall, great place to stay. Would definitely recommend this B&B to others.

The best part of my stay at B&B Old Florence Inn was the personalized care, helpfulness and service by the staff, Florio and Christina. They both made everything comfortable, safe and stress-free. The environment is so charming. I loved the room, the location and just sitting on the balcony overlooking the view of St Maria Novella. It truly was the highlight of my stay in Italy. Florio went above and beyond my expectations of a hotelier. I will miss being at The Inn and can't wait to return.
